چکیده

Passive stereo vision is proposed to work in a complimentary manner with active stereo vision for detection of smooth surfaces of deformed plates. Passive stereo vision is used to obtain the boundary of the smooth surfaces, whereas active stereo vision with the projection of structured light is applied to detect the details of the surfaces. An inherent problem in passive stereo vision, called false boundary problem, is identified. The problem is solved by calibrating the structured light in active stereo vision and dynamically placing the cameras in passive stereo vision. The matching criteria in active stereo vision and the sensing process of the proposed approach are presented. An experiment was conducted to test the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Novel Visual Sensor System Fusing An Active Trinocular Vision and A Stereo Vision for 3D Range Data Acquisition

One of major research issues associated with 3D range acquisition is the creation of sensor systems with various functionalities and small size. A variety of machine vision techniques have been developed for the determination of 3D scene geometric information from 2D images. As one of active sensors, structured lighting method has been widely used because of its robustness on the illumination n...

Active Stereo-matching for One-shot Dense Reconstruction

Stereo-vision in computer vision represents an important field for 3D reconstruction. Real time dense reconstruction, however, is only achieved for high textured surfaces in passive stereo-matching. In this work an active stereo-matching approach is proposed. A projected pattern is used to artificially increase the texture of the measuring object, thus enabling dense reconstruction for one-shot...

An Overview of Passive Vision Techniques

This section surveys passive optical techniques for recovering scene shape and reflectance characteristics from images. The objective is to acquire images of a scene observed from different viewpoints and possibly different illuminations, and from these images to compute scene shape and reflectance at every surface point. Given estimates of shape we can fabricate duplicate 3D models using techn...

Computation of stereo disparity for space materials

One of the challenges facing computer vision systems used in space is the presence of specular surfaces. Such surfaces lead to several adverse effects when imaged by vision systems such as the creation of reflected “virtual” images of objects due to specular reflections, specular reflection of light from the sun and other sources, and total reflection of any projected illuminants including lase...
